You might get a good deal on a house that's been on the market for forty-five days or more. The builder may not lower the price but offer to pay the closing costs or add upgrades free of charge.

When you check out a builder community you will probably be invited to tour one of the model homes. Builders want prospective buyers to see these houses because they are packed with upgrades. They are hoping you will be so impressed that you will spend the extra money to add at least some of them to your home package.

Buying the model could be a good idea. When communities are almost completed, builders list the model for sale. They are ready to move on to the next project and want the model sold quickly.
