Important Insights On Tablet Dies And Punches

Basically, manufacture of tablets has become a very vibrant activity in the current world. This is due to the fact that their manufacture has been made easy by technology as well as people turning away from traditional medications. Tablets are uniformly weighted, sized and styled pigments that are taken for medical use. On the other hand, punches are devices used to manufacture these tablets in a mechanical way through compressions. Drugs that undergo this process include animal, pharmaceuticals, illegal, cosmetics and detergents among others. With this, it is therefore important to maintain Tablet Dies and Punches in good working conditions for maximum productivity.

Combination of a die and 2 punches in a compressing manner forms a tablet. This activity or process involves lowering down the bottom punch in which a cavity is formed. Granulated powder is added on these cavities. When this is done, the die is then added and the upper punch is then lowered to the powder surface. When both of them come into contact, the pressure is generated that helps to compress the powder to form a hard substance. This is what is referred to as a tablet.

Shape, size, mass and appearance of the product are key consideration aspects that make manufacturers to select the type of punches for use. With these the specifications and requirements are met. These considerations take into account certain aspects like the header radius, shape angle size among others. They also take note of the final product appearance inform of feel, texture, mass, size and other characteristics.

The punches used in tablets manufacturing are of two types. That is a single and rotary punch presses. In most cases, the rotary ones are used because addition of powder and removal of already pressed tablets can be made in within a turret. These devices are also made in a custom way which can even accommodate manufacturer details.

There is one major problem that faces this equipment. This is the formation of sticky substances on the surface of the equipment. Sticking is caused by failure to clean well, mechanical faults and insufficient pressure applied. It is very costly to make corrections in the equipment and these sticks denature tablets making producers incur losses. It is therefore very important to take precautions that aim at reducing this problem.

Cleaning is one of them. This activity takes care of buildups and sticking materials. Periodical assessment should also be taken as one will be able to understand the right service time. Measurement assessment is also form in order to understand the accuracy level of your equipment. This will reduce incurrence of unnecessary costs.

Another maintenance activity is recurrence polishing. This reduces buildup of dirt particles and effects of dirt such as rust that can cause to the failure of the equipment. Lubrication, on the other hand, is the in reducing grinding and friction that causes wear in a very short period of time. You should also store them in tamper free places.

In order to improve productivity, performance and increase shelf life, certain measures has been taken by equipment manufacturers. These measures include making auto lubricating devices that help in reducing breakdowns, steel and steel coated for sticking reduction. These aspects continue to be improved as technology advances. Productivity also increases.
