By Matthew Richardson

Stigmata is the process whereby the wound marks of our resurrected Lord spontaneously appears on the body of Catholic priests who undergo the process. Those marks entail the nail wounds at the hands and feet, the side lance wound, head wounds caused by the crown of thorns, and the back scourge marks in the body. It is the process via which a Stigmata Catholic Priest must undergo.

The individual who undergoes this process is referred as a stigmatic. The person may suffer from one, a couple or the entire wounds that Jesus suffered. The wounds can be either visible or invisible and in both cases their appearance can be permanent, temporary or even periodic in nature. Principally, stigmata is connected to Roman Catholic faith and that is where most of the participants starting with the pioneer the St. Francis of Assisi come from.

When someone suffers from those wounds, it is said to reunite and draw them close to the Lord. The procedure more so incorporates leading sinners for repentance. And it is the reason most of the people who face the process are also termed as victim souls since they decide to suffer as Jesus did. In circumstances of invisible marks, it is said that the individual participants ask God in prayer and faith to hide their would marks. And in case God reacts to their plea, they get their prayer answered.

Different cases of this experience often take varying shapes. Part of stigma tics have wounds on the head and those looks the same as those Jesus portrayed after wearing a crown of thorns. There are other means of manifesting body wounds and these include tears of blood, sweating blood and incurring wounds in particular parts of the body as Jesus did.

Most of the experience portray recurring bleeding which terminates and then begins. At times, it occurs after getting Holy Communion and a big number of stigma tics have portrayed a big desire to regular receiving of Holy Communion. A considerably great portion stigma tics likewise exhibit inedia whereby they live with little or no food and water or both of them for prolonged periods of time apart from the Holy Eucharist while some exhibit weight loss.

Sufferings and Ecstasy is performed in the same day of Thursday and Friday the same time as Jesus did. Usually, great suffering is not unusual. The participants are said to undergo some harsh rejection prior to getting wounds authenticated. Those with wounds are put under strict scrutiny so that they cannot tamper with their wounds. During the time, also, a large number of false stigma tics is not absent.

Those who undergo the process without see-able marks, they are said to encounter what we call invisible stigmata. In other cases, the procedure involved huge pain. To some individuals, wounds remained fresh and they did not even clot. Amazing to some, blood flowing from wounds give pleasant and performed odor which is termed as Sanctity Odor.

Ecstatic s are individuals who endured the suffering of this experience. Usually, the process went hand-in-hand with getting overpowered with emotions. However, cases of stigmata were not reported before thirteenth century because Jesus was not yet crucified. Today, many Catholic priests thus view it as a great way of strengthening their relationship with God.
