It is hard to say that one can instantly get the cure for someone who stammers but something can be done about it. Miracles will not happen and the drugs will not work instantly however there is definitely a workable stuttering treatment as long as one is persistent. The best progress is seen when one decides to take the action and fight the problem.

Stammering changes depending on the environment one is on and the people they are interacting with. It is not easy to get a speech trainer especially for a first timer but in case you had one and did not like their services look for a different one. Choose the right person and make sure you are comfortable talking with them. Ask about the different approaches they plan on using.

In most cases what causes stammering is stress and anxiety. If you know you will be talking to a large group of people stay relaxed especially your neck and shoulders should be relaxed. If these areas are firm your throat is affected and you are not in a position to project your voice well. Make sure your brain too is relaxed and keep telling yourself all will be well to fight that fear.

Teach yourself new techniques therefore you can decide to be reading books out loud. As you do so listen to yourself talk and ensure that every letter is being pronounced. You are in a position to know how many words you can read and what speed and when you need to breath. A lot of people stammer after running out of breath and most of them are fast talkers.

Look for a specialist within your limit in terms of money. Every person has a budget therefore do not settle for a person you might not be in a position to pay. Specialists have different charges depending on where one is located and how many hours one needs to be trained. A good specialists should first evaluate the patient to know the length of time needed.

In as much as talking in front of a mirror may sound absurd it really helps building confidence. It might not be the same as talking to someone else but it is better and it is an exercise that helps in building your confidence. It does not have to be something that makes sense but make sure your lips are moving are you look at yourself in the mirror.

Think about what you want to talk about before you actually say the words. Visualizing helps you to master the words and you are able to imagine the words. If you notice a certain word makes you stumble try looking for synonyms or spelling out the word. The more you practice the better you become. You can pause as you talk and think about the word before you say it.

You are not the first person to suffer from this condition. There are other famous people like Winston Churchill and Marilyn Monroe who at one point of their lives struggled with stammering issue. Just like they conquered it you too can. Start taking therapy sessions and stay positive to get positive results. You will soon see changes in your communication skills.
